COURSES TO HELP CONTROL THE FEAR OF FLYING Page 1, Page 2, Page 2A, Page 3, Page 4, Page 5(USA), Page 6 (USA), Page 7 (USA) (Organised by Airlines and Associated Companies) SOAR has been helping people overcome flight difficulties since 1982. SOAR's unmatched success is based on a two-step process. First, we teach you how flying works, why it is safe, and the psychology of aeroanxiety. Then, two hours of one-to-one counseling sets up AUTOMATIC control of feelings when you fly. Unlike group courses, which help the group through a single flight, SOAR focuses on your individual needs to achieve permanent success, because it includes individual counseling by an airline captain who is also a licensed therapist. SOAR is the only program to provide this unique combination. We guide you step by step to success, and we guarantee that the results will meet or exceed your expectations when you fly. Produced by airline captain and licensed therapist Tom Bunn, MSW, CSW, LCSW. SOAR Video Course on DVD and Internet This immediately available international course consists of ten hours of video instruction by licensed psychotherapist and airline captain Tom Bunn LCSW. It can be viewed on-line while your DVDs are enoute. When including optional one-to-one counseling counseling by phone, results are guaranteed. Available in English at www.fearofflying.com and in Spanish at www.miedovolar.com. SOAR Audio Course on MP3 Five hours of audio instruction available for immediate download at www.iamplify.com/fearofflying by licensed psychotherapist and airline captain Tom Bunn LCSW. Includes "Take Me Along" audio tracks to use during the flight to explain what is happening as it happens. The Clinic is held at the San Francisco International Airport as well as other aviation facilities in the Bay Area. It is under the leadership of Jeanne McElhatton, a flight instructor, commuter pilot and NASA aviation safety analyst. Classes are conducted by a team of highly qualified aviation professionals and licensed behavioral therapists. The Clinic started its operations in 1976 and has an extremely high success rate in helping people overcome the fear of flying. THE FEAR OF FLYING CLINIC takes you behind the scenes of the airline industry. In the past we've been able to tour aircraft maintenance hangars, sit in a cockpit and visit the airport control tower. However, national security levels will dictate how much of this we can do. In the 24 hours of instruction, you'll hear from airline pilots, flight attendants, mechanics, and air traffic controllers. We discuss weather-related issues and how weather affects you as a fearful flyer. During the maintenance portion, we demonstrate the function of various airplane parts and the sounds they generate, this is accomplished aboard a stationary commercial airliner. If you are one of the millions of individuals
who experience anxiety in any flight-related tasks such as ticketing,
packing, arriving at airports and picking up or dropping off loved ones,
the Fear of Flying Clinic is your solution to letting go of the fear. FINALLY: The FEAR OF FLYING CLINIC provides extensive follow-up. You will be given the names and telephone numbers of our presenters so that you may continue receiving professional answers to any of your questions after the clinic ends. We ask that you keep in touch with us. You are always welcome to join us on our future orientation flights. PLEASE CONTACT FEAR OF FLYING CLINIC FOR LATEST COURSE DATES FOR 2007 Contact telephone number: U.S. 650-341-1595 or for more details visit our website: www.fofc.com Afraid to Fly? You're not alone! Afraid to fly? If so, you
are not alone. Almost 25 million Americans would prefer not to fly on
commercial aircraft. Some people have never flown and don't know what
to expect; others have to fly regularly, but are extremely uneasy about
the whole process. Even people who are comfortable with the flight itself can be nervous about the airports, ticketing, reservations - the whole confusing operation that supports air travel. Millions of Americans have such strong feelings about flight that they won't fly at all. Millions more are uncomfortable whenever they do fly. You're not alone. What is the Program? - The Fear of Flying Clinic consists of two full weekends supplemented with cassette tape, lectures, and reading materials. Our programs include an orientation flight on a scheduled commercial jet, optional at extra cost. Two clinics are offered each year. Clinics are limited to twenty participants, so we advise reserving your place early. People Who Care Enough to Volunteer - The Fear of Flying Clinic is a nonprofit, public service organization. Its volunteer staff consists of commercial aviation pilots, Federal Aviation Administration personnel, members of the International Organization of Women Pilots (Ninety Nines), employees of major airlines, and clinic graduates. A fee is charged to cover the clinic's expenses. PLEASE CONTACT FEAR OF FLYING CLINIC FOR LATEST COURSE DATES FOR 2007 Email clinic for information and registration. MySky is a two and a half day seminar (Friday evening through Sunday afternoon) which will help fearful flyers deal with their fears and become more comfortable with flying. We utilize a small group and personalized approach. Our team consists of a pilot, a psychologist and other related professionals who have worked for over 7 years with hundreds of fearful flyers. The weekend program consists of educational, psychological, and hands-on exposure. Participants will receive information about the technical aspects of flight and air travel issues (such as security, flight operations, and personnel training). A framework will be presented for understanding how anxiety is developed and how it can be managed. Techniques will be taught and practiced that facilitate relaxation, soothing and a reduction of fear. A hangar tour and flying together on a short commercial flight are highlights of our program. Follow-up support from staff and fellow participants is also included. In addition to the weekend workshops, we are also available on a consulting basis to corporations to provide customized training and/or workshops about reducing fear of flying. Program psychologists are also available to see people individually through their private practices in Minneapolis and St. Paul. Staff: Julie A. Kenfield, PhD and Ruth B. Markowitz, MA are both licensed psychologists in independent practice since l985. Both were psychologists with the former Northwest Airlines Wings Fear of Flying program and have worked with over 400 fearful flyers. Captain Tom Roberts has been a pilot with NWA for 31 years. He was a DC-10 Captain instructor for 8 years and flew as an international captain for 12 years. He is currently a DC-10 Captain Instructor for Pan Am. Tom also worked with the Wings program since 1995. Welcome to Taking Flight--a friendly, supportive destination on your path to overcoming the fear of flying! Our site was created and designed by well-informed fearful fliers who are hard at work on their own recovery. We know what this fear is about, and we have access to a large pool of information and resources to help you become a happier flier. Everything here is free (and there are no ads that we do not approve) and we are not affiliated with any therapeutic program. The fear of flying is very common, affecting one in six people in the population, and as many as one in four on the plane. So we are one of the largest Special Interest Groups on the planet! If you are here due to FoF, you are not alone! The "outside" world can be a little rough on us, though, because nonfearful friends and family often do not understand. Please tell them they are welcome here, too, because an education will help them be more supportive of you. Please take some time to explore our site www.takingflight.us and feel free to join our support forum
